Baycol
On August 8, 2001, Bayer Pharmaceuticals withdrew the cholesterol lowering drug BAYCOL from the market because of its toxic side effects. Officials at the FDA reported that 31 people have died of complications of severe muscle breakdown after taking Baycol. Symptoms of BAYCOL toxicity include muscle pain, weakness, tenderness, malaise, fever, dark urine, nausea, and vomiting which can lead to kidney failure and other organ failure.
